[ He reads the first sentence and pauses as to how he should respond. Should he tell him that he knows? That may deter him from finding out more about the kidnapping -- though, it sounds like it may have been one from the zoo? ]

Rest assured, I believe you so it doesn't sound crazy at all. It is not lie you to lie, anyway.

Still a bounty? Had you been causing that much trouble?

[ Ah, perhaps, he should not have been so lackadasical about Atsushi's transformations. He supposes that he didn't see any harm in it; Kei merely believed that non-Retrospec people seeing a white tiger late at night would chalk it up to some nighttime hallucination. Was his thinking too shallow? Yes, obviously. ]

[ In that case, he should let the matter go, huh? These sort of situations happen, do they not? Especially to those on Retrospec. But Atsushi is the one still left to recover from what has happened. Presumably, though, the kidnapper is as well.

Kei clicks his tongue. He feels an obligation to do something, however. Atsushi has done enough to warrant some sort of response from him. The would-be kidnapper will probably eventually be fine after enough consoling, but probably will still feel guilt. Atsushi will eventually be all right due to his warm heart and how others will, hopefully, come to comfort him.

But are both of them going to be satisfied with such an ending? No blame to anyone; no guilt cast on anyone. No, that isn't a satisfying ending for anyone to not feel some hidden pain later. And since he can see something like that happening, it seems like he has to play the villain. ]

I don't care about any of that, however. The action was done and while he did let you go, I'm afraid I can't let it rest.

Do you know who it was, Atsushi?

Last name?

And Tom, huh.

[ Ah, well. ]

Then, you're saying that it was someone you know. Are you willing to forgive him?

That complicates things, but only slightly.

It's hardly selfish.
Those are your feelings, right?
You've done what you could to make yourself mean something in this city, and someone attempted to take that meaning and have it be a benefit to them.
It's not wrong to be upset.
And while you forgive John, I will not. For now.

The ability to control trees, hm?

No. I suppose in that situation that you would not.
And regardless if he was under some sort of spell, he did pursue you and left you feeling defenseless and weak.

The tiger wanted to?

Isn't the tiger you, Atsushi?

[ But maybe he should not word it like that, hm? Still, he closes his eyes and nods -- regardless of knowing someone and feeling safe with them, anyone would feel angry and desiring some retribution for being made helpless. ]

Well. I'll handle it.

Consider yourself absolved of everything that is going to happen.

These are my own actions and for my own reasons, understand?

What am I going to do?

Are you certain that you wish to know, Atsushi? You cannot claim ignorance later, and it might best for you if you do.

[ Indeed, he makes it sound so much more dire than what he plans to do. All he intends is to have a confrontation of sorts; it will be cathartic for everyone involved. John will feel as both the fiend and the victim; that should be enough to have him escape the guilt of falling under a spell. Atsushi will feel as though someone will defend and watch over him; the small guilty satisfaction in feeling cared for by someone else.

Kei will be the only one who loses. If it goes as he believes. ]
